Sustainability at Genesis

Sustainability at Genesis means caring for the environment, supporting our people to succeed and building strong communities while powering New Zealand towards a positive, sustainable future.

Sustainability at Genesis means caring for the environment, supporting our people to succeed and building strong communities while powering New Zealand towards a positive, sustainable future. In 2018 we launched our new Sustainability Statement, explaining what sustainability means to us. Underpinning that is our Sustainability Framework (also contained in our Annual Report), which is designed to be an iterative document we develop year-on-year.

Sustainability isn’t new for Genesis – we’re really proud of the progress we have already made across a range of different areas, especially our environmental initiatives and commitments, our work around flexible working and gender pay gap, and our ongoing community investments like School-gen. But we want to do more, and our Sustainability Framework sets out our key focus areas and ambitions for the next year, across the areas of caring for our environment, building strong communities, and powering New Zealand.

We have aligned our sustainability focus areas to the relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
