Your home electricity and gas meters are how we gauge your energy bills.

The more often they are read, the more accurate your bills and the better you can map your energy usage.

As part of our terms and conditions of supply, we plan to read the meter(s) at least once every two months. You will need to provide us safe and unobstructed access to the metering equipment.

How to Read Your Meter

We would like to help you understand how to read your electricity and gas meters.

Perhaps you have received an estimated bill or a meter reader has been unable to access your meter. Whatever your reasons, we would like to make it as simple as possible for you.

Submit Your Meter Reading For Home

Entering your own meter reading will generate a bill based on this actual reading instead of an estimate.

An estimate is used every second month or where we have been unable to gain access to your meter.

If you have received communication from us regarding no access, please do not submit your read here - call 0800 300 400 to discuss.

To submit a meter reading simply complete the form below and we will send you a bill within five working days (this excludes members of CRT or Farmlands). If for some reason we are not able to process your reading we will contact you.

Advanced Meters For Home

This advanced piece of technology tells us your exact energy usage without the need for a meter reader coming to your home. Plus you can still check your own reading anytime you prefer. And everything links to your my Account so you can always keep track of exactly how much energy you're using.

^We may need to provide estimated readings and/or visit your property if we are unable to remotely communicate with your meter, if technical issues occur or for maintenance and auditing purposes.

Sometimes you may experience issues where your meter may not be able to communicate remotely and you will still continue to have a meter reader attend your property. As part of our terms and conditions of supply, we plan to read the meter(s) at least once every two months. You will need to provide us safe and unobstructed access to the metering equipment.  

How to Read Your Advanced Meter

It's super easy.

  1. Your Advanced Meter's screen will automatically change its display every eight seconds. To stop the screen changing, just press the ‘SELECT' button.
  2. Your meter reading will appear on the screen.

Got more than one price plan (i.e. ‘Anytime' and ‘Controlled')? Just repeat the steps above until you've got all the different meter readings.

Every eight seconds, the info displayed on your Advanced Meter's screen will change – in this order:

If you switch off your main electricity switch we won't be able to read your Advanced Meter remotely and may need to provide you with estimated meter readings until your electricity is switched back on.
