Power Shout Terms and Conditions as at 21 Jan 2021


A “Power Shout” is an offer of free power, from Genesis Energy Limited (Genesis) to you. From time to time you may earn, or we may offer you a specified amount of free power hours (Power Shout Hours) which you may accept. Accepted Power Shout Hours will be stored in Energy IQ as your Power Shout Balance (Power Shout Balance) – which you can use to book and redeem a, or a number of, periods of free power (each, a Power Shout). When a Power Shout is redeemed, the cost of the electricity you consume at your property will be credited to your account.

Key Terms

  • Power Shout Hours are only available through Energy IQ and these are only available for residential electricity accounts with a smart meter, on an eligible electricity plan.

  • From time to time, you may earn, or we may offer you Power Shout Hours which you may accept through Energy IQ.

  • Accepted Power Shout Hours are stored in your Power Shout Balance.

  • From time to time, you can redeem your available Power Shout Hours to book a Power Shout via Energy IQ.

  • If not redeemed, accepted Power Shout Hours will expire 24 months after the date you have accepted these.

  • A redeemed Power Shout will apply as a credit to your account and will be applied to your next applicable bill.

Eligibility

  1. To be eligible for a Power Shout you must:
    1. be an existing Genesis residential electricity customer on an eligible electricity plan;
    2. have your primary electricity residence with Genesis Energy;
    3. have a smart meter installed at your property with half hourly daily reads; and
    4. have signed up to Energy IQ.

  2. Power Shout applies to your primary electricity residence only (excludes gas and LPG).

Redemption and Expiry of Power Shout Hours

  1. From time to time, you may earn, or we may offer you Power Shout Hours, which you may accept before the applicable offer expiration date. When you accept any Power Shout Hours (before the applicable offer expiration date), the Power Shout Hours will be added to your Power Shout Balance. You may only accept offers of Power Shout Hours in Energy IQ.

  2. To redeem a Power Shout, you must have Power Shout Hours available in your Power Shout Balance in Energy IQ. You may redeem a Power Shout by selecting a period of free power, up to the value of your Power Shout Balance on any day (until midnight that day). Any Power Shout Hours redeemed, are removed from your Power Shout Balance.

  3. Power Shout hours may not be redeemed retrospectively.

  4. If not redeemed, accepted Power Shout Hours will expire 24 months after the date you have accepted these and will be removed from your Power Shout Balance.

  5. Redeemed Power Shout Hours are called a Power Shout.

Cancelling your Power Shout Hours

  1. You may cancel your selected Power Shout Hours at any time before the last hour of the applicable period of your Power Shout. You may not cancel a Power Shout once it has been completed.

General

  1. Subject to clause 10 below, following a Power Shout your account will be credited for the amount of electricity you used during the Power Shout after an actual meter read is obtained by us for the applicable Power Shout period. The credit will include daily fixed charges, or apportioned thereof where applicable, and variable usage charges incurred during the Power Shout, but excludes any special charges. The credit will apply to your next electricity bill following the Power Shout.

  2. If we are unable to obtain an actual meter read in relation to a Power Shout within seven calendar days of the Power Shout Period ending, we will apply a credit to your account of $1 per hour for that Power Shout. The credit will apply to your next electricity bill following the Power Shout.

  3. Fixed charges and Variable use charges may vary and are based on your current pricing at the time of your Power Shout.

  4. All charges associated with your Power Shout will be charged to your account and appear on your bill in your usual monthly billing cycle and must be paid by you in accordance with your standard payment terms. These will be then credited to your account within seven days following your Power Shout and will appear on your next applicable bill.

  5. Power Shouts are not transferrable, refundable or redeemable for cash.

  6. Genesis reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions in any way and at any time.

  7. To receive any credit, you must be a current Genesis electricity customer and your account must be active at the time of the credit.

  8. Your entitlement to redeem Power Shout Hours is conditional on you having made regular, satisfactory payments, on time. Genesis reserves the right to withdraw this offer (including any Power Shout) from any customer who has had overdue accounts or issues with payment.

  9. Genesis reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, withdraw, modify or suspend Power Shouts (or any part of the Power Shout offer, including any redeemed Power Shout Hours, or invalidate any customers from the participating in Power Shouts (or any redeemed Power Shout Hours), at any time without prior notice.

  10. In addition to these terms and conditions, the Genesis Standard Terms and Conditions and Energy IQ Terms and Conditions apply. If these terms are inconsistent with any of Genesis’ other applicable terms and conditions as set out below, then these terms will prevail to the extent of any inconsistency, except to the extent that these terms are inconsistent with Genesis Energy’s Standard Terms and Conditions, then those Genesis’ Standard Terms and Conditions will prevail.
