Who is eligible for Power Shout?
To be eligible for a Power Shout offer you must meet the eligibility criteria:
- Be an existing Genesis residential electricity customer at the offer date
- Have a communicating smart meter installed at your property
- Be registered for Energy IQ
- Have received an invitation to participate in this offer by way of an email from us, or are presented with an offer in Energy IQ
Energy Basic customers are not eligible for Power Shouts.
How do I get my Power Shout offer?
We’ll send you an email when there’s an offer of Power Shout hours and you can click through to accept it, or you’ll find offers on the Power Shout screen when you log in to Energy IQ.
You can access the Power Shout screen via the Energy IQ App and Web, under the Profile icon (iOS) or the drop-down menu (Android). If you have downloaded the Energy IQ app, please check you have updated to the latest version.
How much free power do I get?
You can view your Power Shout balance in Energy IQ and this will show you how many Power Shout hours you have available.
When can I use my Power Shout hours?
You can use your Power Shout hours whenever you like by selecting and booking a future date, time and number of hours in the booking screen on Energy IQ. Each booking must be for a minimum of a full hour, and it can’t be for a past date or time.
I’ve picked a time and date for my Power Shout, and I need to change it.
If you want to reschedule your Power Shout, you can cancel it up until the end of the booking period. Once you have cancelled your existing booking, you can then select a new date and time.
Does the amount of free electricity I receive for each Power Shout change?
Power Shout is our way of saying thanks for being a Genesis customer. The amount of free hours we offer may differ with each Power Shout. We’ll let you know how many free hours of electricity you can expect to receive in the invitation or when you are presented with an offer in Energy IQ.
If I move addresses, can I transfer my Power Shout balance to my new address?
Yes, when you move address you will keep all the available hours in your balance. If you have booked a Power Shout for after the date you close your account for that address, these bookings will be cancelled, and the hours credited back to your Power Shout balance for you to use at your new address.
I forgot about my free power booking, can I change it as I wasn’t home?
You can delete a booking up until the booking period ends. If you delete it, the Power Shout hours will be added back to your balance and you can rebook for another time.
However, if you remember your booking after it has already finished, unfortunately you’re not able to delete it and rebook.
Why can’t I see my Power Shout credit in Energy IQ?
Your Power Shout credit will be indicated on your Usage charts in the Energy IQ app and desktop version. It can take up to seven days for this to show. Your usage will still be invoiced as per usual, then a credit will be applied on your next bill.
I have more than one property, can I choose which address I would like to have the Power Shout?
All eligible properties on your account will be selectable when you book a Power Shout. You can choose which property you’d like to receive the free hours.
Why are you encouraging me to use more power with Power Shout?
We’re suggesting that when you do need to use power, whether it’s for everyday use or if you need to use more than usual, you choose a date and time that suits you, so we can credit back the hours.
We also encourage customers to use their power responsibly. Check out our Eco Tracker function in Energy IQ. It shows carbon emission levels from the entire country’s electricity generation calculated in real time. The forecast helps you know when to switch on, reduce or delay using energy-hungry appliances (like dryers) to help lower carbon emissions. If every Kiwi does their bit, we’re closer to a lower-carbon future.
