Genesis Energy Chief Executive Marc England

Marc England

Chief Executive - MBA, MENG

Marc joined Genesis in May 2016. He is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction and management of all its business interests.

Prior to joining Genesis, Marc was Executive General Manager New Energy at AGL Energy in Australia and also previously held the role of Group Head of Strategy there. Marc has 12 years’ experience in the sector across three markets having also worked at British Gas, a subsidiary of Centrica Plc, in the UK from 2007.

Earlier in his career Marc held a number of Corporate Finance roles at Ford Motor Company and prior to that was a Petroleum Engineer for Halliburton Energy Services in the Middle East and United States. Marc has a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and European Studies and an MBA.

Genesis Energy Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Matthew Osborne

Chief Corporate Affairs Officer - BCom, LLB

Matthew Osborne joined Genesis in May 2018 as General Counsel and Company Secretary and was appointed Executive General Manager of Corporate Affairs in October that year.

On 1 September, 2020, Matthew was appointed Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. Matthew is responsible for legal, regulatory, government relations, sustainability, community investment, communications and company secretarial functions.

Having worked in a number of international markets, he brings significant experience in executing business strategy and in providing specialist risk management, commercial, legal and regulatory advice. Prior to joining Genesis, Matthew held senior legal and governance roles with the Vodafone Group in the Middle East and Ireland.

Nicola Richardson, Chief People Officer at Genesis

Nicola Richardson

Chief People Officer - BA (Hons)

Nicola Richardson joined Genesis in 2014 as Group Manager Talent and Development. She was appointed to the Executive team to lead the Company’s People and Culture function in 2016.

On 1 September, 2020, Nicola was appointed Chief People Officer. Nicola is responsible for the people and culture focus of Genesis, including recruitment, talent development, cultural change, Agile, property and procurement.

Prior to joining Genesis Nicola held senior leadership roles in the financial services, real estate and human resource consulting sectors in the United Kingdom, Asia and New Zealand.

James Spence, Chief Financial Officer at Genesis

James Spence

Chief Financial Officer - BSc, CA

James Spence joined Genesis Energy in March 2022 as Chief Financial Officer.

James is responsible for leading the Company’s strategy formulation and overseeing all finance functions, treasury, tax, risk, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and investor relations.

Bringing global experience, James has been Chief Financial Officer at three integrated energy companies - Direct Energy in North America, Energy Australia based in Melbourne and ERM Power based in Brisbane. Prior to that James worked in senior finance roles in Centrica PLC, an energy company based in the United Kingdom. Most recently James has been CFO of Gentrack, a specialist provider of software solutions to global utilities.

Chief Customer Officer Tracey Hickman

Chief Customer Officer - MA (Hons)

Tracey Hickman joined the Genesis Executive Team in 2012 as General Manager Generation. In 2019, she took on a new portfolio as Executive General Manager Retail Operations. Prior to her current role, Tracey led Genesis’ Generation, Wholesale and Fuels portfolio businesses as Executive General Manager.

On 1 September, 2020, Tracey was appointed Chief Customer Officer. Tracey is accountable for the Genesis Retail brand, LPG operations and a range of retail support functions for the whole business.

She brings over 25 years of energy sector experience to the Executive team, having begun her career with the Electricity Corporation of New Zealand, managing large scale environmental reconsenting projects.

Chief Operations Officer Rebecca Larking

Rebecca Larking

Chief Operations Officer – MSc, Dip Business Admin

Rebecca Larking joined Genesis in 2004 as a hydrologist and has held seven roles in generation, environment and trading.

In 2020 she switched to Retail, leading the business customer segment, and was most recently General Manager of Digital Transformation. She was made Chief Operations Officer in February 2022.

Rebecca oversees the company’s generation sites, and its iwi, community and environment partnerships. She is also responsible for Genesis’ 46% interest in the Kupe Joint Venture, which owns the Kupe Gas Field offshore of Taranaki.

She is focused on helping lead the company’s commitment to new renewable projects as Genesis rolls out its Future-gen programme, with a focus on maintaining strong partnerships with iwi, communities and organisations around our sites.

Chief Digital Officer Peter Kennedy

Chief Digital Officer - BForSc (Hons), Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA, London)

Peter Kennedy joined Genesis in 2019 as General Manager Digital and New Services overseeing the development of our key customer tool, Energy IQ, and new product development focused on helping our residential and business customers decarbonise their homes and businesses. On 1 February 2022 Peter took up the role of Chief Digital Officer.

Peter is accountable for technology and data transformation across the business. In addition, he leads the Frank Energy brand and Genesis' Commercial and Industrial customers, as well as the development of energy management products and services.

Peter brings broad experience in product development, technology and customer management to his role at Genesis. He has international digital experience, having worked in the United Kingdom for over a decade prior to joining Genesis.

Chief Trading Officer Pauline Martin

Pauline Martin

Chief Trading Officer – Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (University College Cork, Ireland)

Pauline Martin joined Genesis in 2018 as a Senior Commercial Analyst – Fuels. She later became General Manager, Electricity and Carbon, responsible for management of the company’s electricity and carbon portfolio hedging and its active trading book. She was made Chief Trading Officer in February 2022.

Pauline is responsible for helping Genesis navigate the future of trading as the sector moves towards increasingly sustainable markets.

She brings varied experience in the energy sector, having begun her career as an electrical engineer, diversifying into commercial and trading roles. In addition to her expertise in wholesale markets, Pauline has experience in transmission, generation development, and retail markets.
