Tekapo river flow

Lake Tekapo is approaching its Maximum Control Level due to an outage at the Tekapo Power Scheme. Water will need to flow from Lake Tekapo along the Tekapo River and this is likely to begin at any time from this weekend onward. During this time river flows may increase or decrease at any time in response to weather and other events.

Please do not camp in or around the Tekapo River bed.

Please take care when accessing river areas downstream of Lake Tekapo in case of flow changes.

If you see others who may be at risk, please contact Genesis’s Control Centre on 07 384 7210.
