What we're doing

Initiatives that strive to create a more equal society are table stakes for organisations across the globe. See how we're supporting New Zealand tamariki, rangatahi, and others in the community.

Supporting tamariki

Tamariki are the future so we're supporting them in their learning through our key initiative, School-gen, and other activities.

School-gen and the School-gen Trust (a registered charity) provide resources to schools to grow their students' interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), and renewable energy.

Keeping warm with curtain banks

Curtain banks help families save money on their energy bills while creating warmer, healthier, more private homes. They take pre-loved curtains that have been donated and provide them to families and individuals experiencing hardship. We're helping to get curtains to families across Wellington and Christchurch.

Wellington Sustainability Trust

Getting curtains to those in need in the Wellington region.

Christchurch Community Energy Action

Supplying curtains to those in the Christchurch area.

Better together - POU at Huntly

POU is a marae-owned entity that delivers facilities maintenance services to Huntly Power Station. This initiative was recognised at last year’s NZ Energy Excellence Awards, as a finalist for Community Initiative of the Year. It’s one of the ways we can meaningfully support the community of Raahui Pookeka (Huntly). Ka pai!

Diversity and inclusion

We are a proud recipient of the YWCA’s GenderTick™ and we are a Living Wage employer. Our various policies and procedures ensure we are working towards a fair workplace for all.

Minding the gap

In 2017 we started to create transparency about gender pay and drive change. There are three factors that make up our gender gap statement - the Pay Equity Gap, Leadership Progression Gap and the Total Gender Gap.

Our policy

Embracing diversity, focusing on inclusion, and providing equitable opportunities is essential to the achievement of our long-term strategy.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals provide guidance on how to protect the planet and the people on it. We have aligned our sustainability activities around 5 of these goals - Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Reduce Inequalities, Climate Action and Partnerships for the Goals.
