Q: What is the Brownie Points summary?
A: The Brownie Points summary shows how many points you’ve earned, how you’ve earned them and any rewards you have redeemed.

Q: Can I gift my Brownie Points?
A: Genesis Energy rewards you for your loyalty, so you can’t pass your Brownie Points on to anyone else. Why not use your Brownie Points to get a gift for someone? You could surprise them by ordering a reward on their behalf.

Q: How does a Night Only Meter work?
A: Supply of electricity is from 11:00 pm* to 7:00 am.

This also applies to fixed wired appliances such as a night store heater, under floor heating and sometimes hot water cylinders.

A relay is attached to the meter which allows the network company to control the supply of electricity to the meter.

The supply will stop supply to any appliance wired into this meter at 7:00 am and start supply again at 11:00 pm. This means at no time between 7:00 am and 11:00 pm* will you be able to use these appliances.

Please be aware not all meter types are available in all areas.

* For customers in the Orion network, this will be 9pm.

Q: How do I register for online billing?
A: To register for online billing go to Your Account. Once registered click on the Online Billing link in the Accounts menu and complete the details required. The email address can be different to the one you have registered with Your Account.

 

Please note: If you register close to when your next bill is due, you may still receive it in the post. But after that you’ll start receiving your bills online.

Q: Can I exchange my Brownie Points for cash?
A: No, Brownie Points have no monetary value.

Q: Is it true that natural gas prices will increase as Maui runs out and new gas supplies come on stream?
A: Yes, prices will increase. In the past New Zealand relied on relatively cheap Maui gas, and now that the price of exploration and production will need to be paid, prices will go up. The price of gas is low in comparison to international prices.

Q: Is there a fee to join Brownie Points?
A: No, it is free to join Brownie Points. All eligible Genesis Energy residential customers will be automatically registered to earn Brownie Points (at no cost).

Q: What is the difference between an Advanced Meter and my current meter?
A: An Advanced Meter is new metering technology that enables us to remotely read metering data from your property.  Unlike your current meter, this means we are able to read your actual usage remotely without sending a meter reader to your property.
