Community
We do more than generate power and supply electricity, we put loads of energy into the community. Genesis Energy supports initiatives that are specific to the needs of the communities where we operate, for example we support health clinics, leisure centres, educational initiatives and significant environmental and social initiatives.
Our staff regularly get out into the community to help out in practical, useful ways.
Genesis Energy uses the London Benchmarking Group (LBG) framework for measuring, benchmarking and reporting the company’s community contributions and achievements.
Environmental Initiatives
Genesis Energy recognises that it is no longer appropriate for us to simply address the effects of its operation based on resource consent requirements. We are striving to create a more holistic approach to our environmental management, whilst still maintaining our commitment to the local community and as such we have committed to a variety of community initiatives which are intended to further reduce our footprint.
Employee Volunteering
The Employee Volunteering programme was launched in 2007 and every year each employee has the opportunity to take one day to help out in a team around the community.
Our staff regularly get out into the community to help out in practical, useful ways. We have participated in some very successful volunteering activities from tree planting in Huntly and Auckland to Blue Duck tagging and monitoring in the Central Plateau, maintenance of local schools, public attractions and fundraising for charitable organisations.
Sponsorship
Genesis Energy is also involved in local communities through sponsorship. To find out more about our sponsorships
