Books in Homes

The driving force behind the Books in Homes programme is simple - to break the cycle of 'booklessness'. The areas targeted with low socio-economic surroundings and where children attend lower decile schools. These children are most likely to come from bookless homes.

Children select their own books, which they take home and keep. Each book contains the name of the child, the school and the sponsor who has presented the book.

We have a huge presence in the Huntly community and we are proud to support the Books in Homes programme for Huntly Primary School, Huntly West Primary School and Rakaumanga School. Our sponsorship currently helps allow 530 students to develop a love for books, the essential literacy tools for future use.

New Zealand Opera

We share our passion and love of opera with many
New Zealanders. Our association with The NBR New Zealand Opera started in 2002 and since then we have helped bring tragedy, love, scandal and passion to the New Zealand stage through operas such as Puccini’s ‘Tosca’ and ‘Turandot’, Janácek's ‘Jenufa’ and ‘Tchaikovsky’s ‘Eugene Onegin’.

We are proud to present The Genesis Energy Season of Macbeth.

Verdi perfectly captures the bleak tragedy of Shakespeare’s most potent work in his operatic adaptation of Macbeth - the classic tale of ambition, corruption and bloody revenge.

Macbeth's obsession with gaining the throne consumes him entirely so that by the time of his wife's marvelously mad demise, in Act IV, it barely registers in his head. He is in love all right, but it does not make for a happy ending.
