Genesis Energy has completed the first step of a process which could lead to the development of a wind farm in northern Wairarapa.
Landowners in the northern Wairarapa area have signed agreements that will allow us to assess the wind generation potential of the site. We’re confident that on-site wind monitoring will confirm a substantial wind resource at the site.
This is an important step forward in further diversifying our generation portfolio. Boosting New Zealand’s renewable energy capacity is important and introducing more wind generation is one of the prime ways we can reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
Genesis Energy operates a large renewable generation portfolio including the Tongariro and Waikaremoana Power Schemes and Hau Nui Wind Farm in the Wairarapa.
