Our future developments

New Zealand’s electricity usage is climbing at a great rate of knots, some 2-3% per year. This growth equates to around 120MW of new generation being needed each year. Mindful of this country's ever increasing thirst for power, Genesis Energy is investing heavily in future developments that will ensure security of electricity supply for New Zealand.

We’ve commenced initial developments for a gas-fired power station north of Auckland in the Rodney District and we continue to investigate potential sites for wind farms.

Genesis Energy is also investing heavily in fuel supply projects and is a joint venture partner in the offshore Kupe oil and gas field.

Our participation in these projects sees Genesis Energy involved in all aspects of supplying electricity and gas to New Zealand. These are just some of the ways we're helping to evolve the future of energy in New Zealand.
