For our customers in the Canterbury region, the latest information on when power will be restored to the remaining homes and businesses can be found at the Orion network website.

If you have to leave your house or are worried about the extent of damage, switch off your electrical mains as a safety precaution.

Red Cross has set up a dedicated telephone number for those people concerned about the whereabouts of friends and family missing following the Christchurch earthquake. The number to call is 0800 RED CROSS (0800 733 276). People enquiring from outside New Zealand should call +64 4 471 8250.

Helping out our Canterbury neighbours

At Genesis Energy we’re waiving the daily fixed charge from our Christchurch Orion network customer’s bills for two months from 24 February to 24 April 2011. Genesis Energy has also made an immediate donation of $500,000 to the Red Cross Appeal for Christchurch. Our support won’t stop here though, in the coming months we’ll be looking at other ways we can lend a hand and help the communities in Canterbury get back on their feet.
