Genesis Energy in the Community
Genesis Energy – At work in the Community
Genesis Energy takes seriously its responsibility to support the communities in which it operates and as a result focuses on supporting initiatives that work to benefit the social wellbeing of a community, provide educational opportunities for young people or enhance the physical environment in which we live and work.
Consequently we invest in the following areas:
- Community enrichment – with a specific focus on social wellbeing
Our objectives are to build the capacity and enhance the long term quality of life for the people that live and work in the communities in which we do business. See Community Sponsorships - Education – with a specific focus on youth development
Our objectives in this area are to help the children of our customers and our communities to build skills and competencies. We want to play a role in helping maximise the potential of children and youth. See Education & Youth Development Sponsorships - Environment / Biodiversity enhancement
Key objectives here are to enhance and protect the health of the environmental resources in the regions that we operate. This will help us ensure future sustainability for the natural assets of these areas. See Environmental Sponsorships
Please note that at this point in time our community investment budget is fully committed and so we are not in a position to consider any further requests at this time.
Getting our employees involved
Wherever possible we like to give our employees an opportunity to get involved with the organisations
that we sponsor as a business or alternatively to support a local community initiative. Since 2007 we have run an Employee Volunteering programme where every employee gets the opportunity to take one day out with their team to work in the community.
Our staff have participated in some very successful volunteering activities from tree planting in Huntly and Auckland to Whio (Blue Duck) tagging and monitoring in the Central Plateau, maintenance of local schools, public attractions and fundraising for charitable organisations.
