Environmental Reporting at Tekapo

Genesis Energy communicates its environmental performance with stakeholders on a regular basis via both formal annual reporting and less formal processes such as meetings and newsletters. Further company wide information can be found in the Genesis Energy Annual Report.

Annual Environmental Report

An Annual Environmental Report (AER) will be produced for the Tekapo Power Scheme each year.

On 1 June 2011, the ownership and management of the Tekapo Power Scheme was transferred to Genesis Energy. The report attached below details the operational resource consent compliance of the Tekapo Power Scheme for the duration of Genesis Energy’s ownership and management in the 2010/2011 compliance reporting period, year ending 30 June.

The next AER is due to be completed by September 2012 for the 2011/2012 reporting period. The purpose of the AER is to update communities and stakeholders on the wide range of activities that occur at the Tekapo Power Scheme. The report will:

  • Provide an overview of resource consent compliance at the Tekapo Power Scheme;
  • Provide an update on monitoring and research programmes;
  • Report back on key projects;
  • Report on community and environmental initiatives;
  • Define environmental objectives at the Tekapo Power Scheme for the next 12 months.

Genesis Energy aims to be accessible to the public, to address issues as they arise and to develop closer working relationships within the communities in which it operates.

Consultative meetings

An annual consultative meeting will be held at Tekapo. When the date is set it can be found under the News section, but will also be notified to as many interested parties as Genesis Energy is aware of.
