At Genesis Energy, we like to make your life easier. That’s why we’re upgrading your old electricity meter to a Genesis Energy Advanced Meter.
We believe our Advanced Meter is the best metering technology available. It enables us to provide an improved metering and billing service to our customers. So, here’s what’s in it for you.
With our Advanced Meter there are no surprises
Once our Advanced Meter is installed, you’ll say goodbye to estimated readings, estimated bills and visits from meter readers^.
Instead, what your new Advanced Meter tells us you’ve used is exactly what you’ll see on your bill. And if you want, you can still check your own meter reading by looking at the electronic display on your Advanced Meter. Better still, you will not be charged for the upgrade of your old meter.
^We may need to visit your property for maintenance or an audit after your Advanced Meter is installed.

Now your Advanced Meter does more. You can go online anytime to see exactly how much energy you've used and when - monthly, daily, or even hourly. So now it's even easier to keep track of how much energy you've used - and to include this in your household or business budget. You can see the amount of energy you used when the house was jam-packed with visitors, how much you save when you flick the office computers off at night. |

To check how much energy you've used and when
- 1. Sign into 'My Account' with your username and password.
- 2. Click on the ENERGY USAGE button to see what you've used.

What you need to do
For some customers, we will need access to your property to install this new meter and we’ll be in touch to arrange a suitable time for this meter upgrade to take place. You will need to turn off all sensitive electrical equipment at the power point before your appointment time.
The great thing about our Advanced Meter is that once it’s installed you don’t need to do a thing. We just ask that you leave the mains switch on to allow automated readings of your meter*.

*Switch off your mains switch only for essential maintenance or in the case of an emergency. Should you wish to turn your power off at the mains switch for long periods of time, please contact Genesis Energy to organise the energy to be turned off at the meter. Residential customers call 0800 300 400 and Business customers call 0800 600 900.
