Q. What is the Panasonic heat pump offer?
A. Genesis Energy and Panasonic have joined forces to make a special offer for the month of April 2012 to all Genesis Energy post-pay electricity and/or natural gas customers but this offer is not available to bottled LPG-only customers. When you purchase a Panasonic heat pump on this offer before 30 April 2012, depending on the heat pump model, Genesis Energy will credit your account with a credit of either $200 (incl GST) or $300 (incl GST) subject to complying with the redemption requirements.

 

Q. I am interested in this offer, what happens now?
A. To take up this offer just call us on 0800 300 400 or visit here to register online.

Once your registration has been processed a heat pump installer will then contact you within five working days to arrange a time to visit and quote you on an appropriate heat pump for you. The quote will include installation and electrical connection costs. You may then accept or decline this quote. If you would like to accept the quote and proceed with the purchase of the heat pump installation, please do so promptly as this offer is for a limited time.

To redeem your credit just send the completed proof of purchase form (which you’ll get from your installer – and a copy of your installed Panasonic heat pump tax receipt dated between
1 April to 30 April 2012, back to Genesis Energy by 31 May 2012 and we’ll credit your Genesis Energy account with the appropriate credit and Brownie Points.

Q. What brands of heat pump are available in this offer?
A. A Panasonic heat pump is the only brand eligible for this offer.

 

Q. Who will be installing my heat pump?
A. Your heat pump will be installed by an authorised Panasonic installer nearest to you. You will be able to clarify this when your installer contacts you to arrange a quote.

 

Q. Will the installer/s charge me for visiting me and quoting for a heat pump?
A. The installer’s visit will be at no charge provided you are a Genesis Energy customer.

 

Q. I don’t need a heat pump quote - I have already purchased a Panasonic heat pump, how do I get my credit?
A. As long as you purchased your heat pump in April 2012 and meet all the terms and conditions of the offer you are eligible for a credit. Please follow the redemption process or call 0800 300 400. Please note you must provide a receipt as your proof of purchase before 31 May 2012.

 

Q. I purchased a Panasonic heat pump before 1 April 2012 - am I eligible for a credit?
A. The Genesis Energy heat pump offer is valid from 1 April 2012 until 30 April 2012. If you purchased a heat pump before 1 April 2012 we are unable to approve your credit application.

 

Q. Can I shop around for the best Panasonic heat pump quote?
A. Yes. Feel free to shop around for a deal from an authorised Panasonic dealer. And remember this great offer is available on top of any other promotional deal. As long as you meet all the terms and conditions of the offer you are eligible for a credit.

 

Q. I’m not a Genesis Energy customer, how can I redeem this offer?
A. In order to redeem the Panasonic heat pump offer you are required to join Genesis Energy. You can join now via our heat pump registration form.

 

Q. I am only a Genesis Energy bottled LPG customer - am I eligible for the heat pump offer?
A. No, only Genesis Energy post-pay electricity and/or natural gas customers are eligible for the heat pump offer. This is because of the way that bottled LPG customers are billed. If you would like to switch your electricity to Genesis Energy to be eligible for the Panasonic heat pump offer please call us on 0800 300 400 or you can switch online.

 

Q. I am only a Genesis Energy natural gas customer - am I eligible for the heat pump offer?
A. Yes.

 

Q. I am a Genesis Energy InCharge customer. Am I eligible for the Panasonic heat pump offer?
A. No, only Genesis Energy post-pay electricity and/or natural gas customers are eligible for the Panasonic heat pump offer. If you would like to move to post-pay to take advantage of this offer please contact us on 0800 300 400.

Q. Will the credit differ depending on which Panasonic heat pump I choose?
A. Depending on the Panasonic heat pump model chosen, you will get either $200 (incl GST) or $300 (incl GST) credited to your Genesis Energy account.

Q. How many times can I redeem this offer?
A. The Panasonic Heat Pump offer is based on the number of outdoor units that are installed at one address. If a heat pump multi system is installed the offer is calculated based on the number of outdoor units installed. For example a home may install one indoor heat pump unit in the bedroom and one indoor heat pump unit in the living room, both of which are connected to one outdoor unit. The credit is only available once in this situation as there is one outdoor unit.

 

Q. Where do I send my heat pump proof of purchase form?
A. You can send your completed proof of purchase form, together with a copy of your Panasonic heat pump tax receipt, by email to heatpump@genesisenergy.co.nz or by post to FreePost Authority 126791, Heat pump offer, Genesis Energy, Private Bag 3131, Waikato Mail Centre, Hamilton 3240. Your completed proof of purchase and a copy of your Panasonic heat pump tax receipt must be received by us by 31 May 2012 for you to redeem your credit.

Q. What is a heat pump multi system?
A. A heat pump multi system is where more than one indoor heat pump unit may be installed but are all connected to one outdoor unit.
For example a home may install one indoor heat pump unit in the bedroom and one indoor heat pump unit in the living room, both of which are connected to one outdoor unit. The credit is only available once in this situation as there is one outdoor unit.

 

Q. Can I choose which account the credit is applied to?
A. Your heat pump credit will be applied to your Genesis Energy account only. The credit cannot be gifted to any other account.

 

Q. Hasn’t research shown that heat pumps increase annual energy consumption?
A. Heat pumps have an inverter system which means they can be used as an air conditioner in the summer months. This is what may cause an increase in your energy consumption if you haven’t previously used an air conditioning system. While heat pumps are the most efficient source of home heating you can get the maximum energy efficiency gains and savings on your power bill by using it smartly. Q. How can I use my heat pump more efficiently?
A. There are many things you can do to operate your heat pump more efficiently:

  • Learn to use the timer. Set the timer so the heat pump comes on an hour or so before you get home or get up in the morning.
  • Only heat spaces that you are actually using and turn the heat pump off when it’s not needed.
  • Shut doors, windows and curtains to keep the heat in.
  • Make sure your home is insulated to keep the heat in.
  • Don't set the temperature higher than you need it. 18-22ºC is recommended as a comfortable working temperature, and if required, 16ºC overnight.
  • Keep the interior and exterior units well maintained as per the manufacturer’s instructions, including ensuring the filters are cleaned annually.
